Committees and Boards

Joining our Board of Directors and or one of our committee’s is a great and rewarding way to become more involved with the organization. Members of these committees and board are the building blocks to our success. They are the committed individuals who share in our passion and want to help the organization grow and move forward. It’s a great big help to the organization that’s just a small commitment of time on our members part.  

 

Wild Core’s Governance

 

Wild Core is run and directed by our Board of Directors. The board of directors is comprised of our four (4) officers: President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The other board members are the chair / directors of our 6 committees in addition to two fill directors. Thus Wild Core’s Board of Directors has a total number of 12 members. Each committee has a total of 6 members including the committee chair / director.

The committees and board meet at various times, see list below for more information. All meetings are held in Norwich at various locations.

 

Joining a Committee or the Board

 

As described above in order to be on the board you must hold office as a chair / director on one of our committees or must hold office as an officer in the board. Board of Directors

Meets: Once a month for approximately one hour. Last Thursday of every month at 7:30pm

The Board of Directors is the main governing body of Wild Core. The organization's executive members and directors of our programs / committees are the members that make up the Board of Directors. The board is responsible for effectively managing the organization. The board is responsible for approving all business and financial transactions as well as insures the organization is running smoothly.

Looking for five (5) Chair / Directors in: Education, Special Events, Scholarships, Volunteer and Organization Advancement Committees.

Also looking for one (1) fill director.

Finance Committee

Meets: Once a month on the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30pm. The meeting usually lasts for 25-30 minutes. 

The finance committee is generally in charge of approving some of the organizations smaller financial transactions. The committees job is insure that the organization is effectively going into transactions that are for the good of the organization and that they do not posse any threat of conflict of interest.

Looking for Four (4) committee members.

 

No experience or background is required, though experience in financial management is preferred.

  

Advancement / Development and Growth Committee

Meets: Once a month on the last Monday of every month at 6:00pm. The meeting typically lasts for about one (1) hour to an hour and a half.

This committee is responsible for seeing that the organization continues to grow and develop as a resource within the Connecticut Community. Members will network with corporations and major donors to help the organization acquire the support we need. This committee is also in charge of creating and executing fundraising activities, events and programs. The committee also is responsible for networking with members of the community and implementing programs to help market Wild Core, our programs and our services.

Looking for One (1) Chair / Director

Looking for Four (4) passionate and motivated committee members.

 

Experience in Business operations, marketing, and PR is not required but preferred. Chair / Director must have at least 6 months experiance in Business Operations, Marketing or PR

Volunteer Programs Committee

Meets on the first Monday of every month at 5:00pm. Meetings are approximately 1 hour in length.

This committee is responsible for approving new volunteer opportunities and insures that the volunteer program is running effectively and efficiently. The volunteer committee is also responsible for Volunteer Hearings. Hearings will determine if a volunteer was wrongly accused in a situation were volunteers are asked to leave the program for unacceptable behavior or other such factors. The committee is also in charge of reporting on volunteer activity and executing our Annual Volunteer Expedition.

Looking for Four (4) Committee Members

 

No experience in volunteer management or coordination is required but is preferred. Chair / Director must have a minimum of 6 months experience in volunteer management or coordination, or have volunteered as an administrator within Wild Core.

Special Events Committee

Meets: Once a month on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm. Meetings usually last about an hour to an hour and a half.

This committee is in charge of creating, sponsoring and executing Wild Core's Special Events. The committee will work very closely with the volunteer and advancement committees to coordinate endeavors. The committee is also responsible for promoting and evaluating events.

Looking for Four (4) Committee Members

 

No experience in event planning or coordination is required but is preferred. Chair / Director must have a minimum of 6 months experience in event planning or coordination, or have volunteered as an administrator within Wild Core.

Educational Programs Committee

Meets: Once a month on the first Thursday of every month at 6:00 pm. Meetings last for approximately an hour to an hour and a half.

Members of this committee help manage Wild Cores Educational Programs. The committee reviews and approves activities, programs, lesson plans and curriculums etc. The committee is also responsible for creating and executing programs that meet Wild Core's Educational Standards for Outdoor and Environmental Education.

Looking for One (1) Chair / Director.

Looking for Four (4) Committee Members

 

No experience in environmental education or experiential education is required but is preferred. Chair / Director must posses a valid State of Connecticut Teaching Certificate and should have a background in environmental or natural sciences.

Scholarships Committee

Meets every other month on the first Friday at 6:00pm. April through June meetings will be held once a month, same time and day.

The Scholarship committee has the rewarding job of awarding chosen applicants with scholarship funds. The committee is responsible for reviewing and approving scholarship requests from Connecticut students who are continuing on to higher education for environmental type studies.

No experience required. Chair / Director must posses a college diploma for an associates degree or higher in any major.
